Permaculture Course – Dec 11 & 12

The Urban Garden Project of the Food Action Committee is happy to announce that we will be hosting Adrian Buckley from Big Sky Permaculture to facilitate a two day workshop here at the Ecology Action Centre on Permaculture design. It looks like it is going to be a great weekend full of lots of learning and yummy food. We would also like to thank Adrian, as part of each registration fee will go towards supporting the Urban Garden Project’s ever growing work.

Introduction to Permaculture Workshop

In this 2-day workshop, you are going to learn about the basics of permaculture. Permaculture is a design science for creating sustainable human habitat. There’s something in this course for everybody! Whether your heavy into gardening, interested in making positive change, want to learn about renewable energy, or determined to ensure clean water is freely available, this course is for you! This information-packed course includes these topics:

·   Functional design
·   Sustainable water systems
·   Fundamentals of organic food production
·   Garden and landscape design
·   Designing fossil energy out of the system
·   Soil science, soil building and composting
·   Local renewable energy systems and planning
·   Strategies for building a local resilient community
